Van Leucia Productions

Complete professionally outfitted recording studio, commandeered by ineffable producer/mixing engineer Van Leucia, this facility will fulfil all you need!

A musician is more than just a face, more than just a performer. Musicians are the culmination of creative inspiration and calculation, marketing, contact bases, stage impact and the support that leads to it all to success. An aspiring musician can't hope to make it in today's world without all of these things, and without the simple action of 'getting out there'.

Van Leucia started out as a classical/jazz pianist, achieving his Licentiate Diploma in Classical Performance and playing pop/rock in high school on his guitar, but soon realised that those things couldn't possibly lead to fruitful reaping without a few certain other things.
Since then, Van has built an expansive career (and continues to aspire to that aforementioned perfect culmination) in stage performance, accompaniment, session recording, studio production, transcription/arranging and teaching. Working with musicians of all ages and experiences, he saw that at the end of the day, it was the little people who were ignored the most and suffered the hardest; backstage support, early fans and even the musicians themselves. From the moment he began advertising for recording and production packages, Van sought to acknowledge all of those involved, their task however small.

Continually expanding his database of fellow 'musos', Van Leucia welcomes all artists and musicians to his studio, whether it be to record their debut album, sign up as an on-call session musician, contribute their experiences or opinions on the latest mix or even just to have a jam. Feature tracks with his friends/fellow musos are not uncommon, and sometimes, one person just isn't enough for the job. His sources provide their specialised services in composition, arrangement, improvisation or performance to contribute to a wholly effective product.

His experience includes an expansive range of genres and repertoire, from the depths of Renaissance medieval music and chant to the far reaches of exotic European/Asian/Mediterranean/African music; and everything in between! Having performed with countless acts of every size and style imaginable, Van is never short on resources or experience, whether it be for performance, improvisation or composition.

Featuring the premium 56i/o Fireface 800 interface from RME, Van can track up to 28 inputs simultaneously into his Pro Tools 10 software.

This means, without any wizardry involved, you'll be able to record two guitarists, a keyboardist, the lead vocals, backing vocals, bass and a 7-piece drumkit without a sweat (if you can fit them into the studio!), and still have enough inputs to run your instrumentalists' effects direct into the program for later tweaks, if necessary.

With a modified, crystalline pre-amp stage and boosted computer processor, there's practically zero noise and zero latency from the mics/inputs; this means you can go straight from tuning up and soundcheck to recording your next hit track!

Using an in-studio Roland Fantom G8 keyboard, Van Leucia can synthesise the sounds you need to get the perfect lead, bass, arp and/or pad for your track.

That's not all, though. With advanced multi-sampling technology and award-winning software instruments, Van can record your playing through MIDI into his program and then select the sounds you need to create the ultimate atmostphere, whether that be through sweeping orchestral strings, a punchy jazz bass or trippy aetherisers.

Even if the compositional ability isn't in your grasp, just hire Van as a session keyboardist and he'll find the perfect lines for your track!

Been practising on a sadly undersized amp? Or is your amp just too big to lug to the studio every session? Using the Vox ACTV 4W Tube amp, renowned for its purity and warmth of tone, combined with inherent power of a tube pre-amplifier, Van can get your guitar parts tracked without a problem. And if you still want more power, you can amp it up even higher with a 120W Marshall 2x12" cab (designed by Bugera).

Worried about your bass? Not to worry; with Beta Aivin's fine offering in the BP80 amplifier, Van will tune your bass to perfection, whether you're after distorted double-picked chugs or slap-funk lines.

A Zoom G7.1ut multi-fx pedal board can also be used for a powerful and/or clean effect chain.

The choice to use the in-studio amp(s) is to be made at your discretion.

If neither option is to your liking, Van has installed within Pro Tools a number of amp modelling plugins that effectively recreate the sound of such amazing tones as the Marshall cabs and Tweed combos in today's recordings.

Van Leucia Productions is primarily a multi-channel recording and mixing environment, but that doesn't mean that the auditary and visual experience has to detract in any way.

With a pair of near-field Rokit KRK5s, multiple listening contexts and a fully acoustically-treated room, Van will make sure that your tracks are radio-ready and, of course, uniform across all platforms of the listening experience.

Using premium hardware from FMR, ART, Behringer and Swamp Industries and industry-leading mixing and mastering plugins (Waves, Bluetubes, AIR and many others), Van will ensure that you get as solid, punchy and clear a sound as is possible. If you're still not convinced (somehow), he'll refer you to an external mastering studio.

The recording space, 6mx7m, can currently comfortably fit up to 10 musicians in the studio simultaneously. The control room is air-conditioned and kitchen facilities are provided in the adjacent lounge area.

Please note the studio is a non-smoking facility, but breaks are welcome!
